Stain and Finishing Log Home
Blastmaster proudly offers high quality oil-based finishes. With Blastmaster's Annual Maintenance package, your home will look its best for years to come.
There are 2 basic types of finishes on the market, “film-formers,” and “penetrating” finishes.
Our premium film forming oil-based finish dries hard, yet remains flexible. This allows it to withstand the changes in weather without cracking, peeling, or blistering. Unlike other finishes, our premium finish is applied without the use of a sprayer. Instead, the finish is rolled on and brushed in to ensure that the pores of the wood are penetrated and everything is coated thoroughly. The initial application requires 4 coats to ensure the best possible protection for your home.
Another unique feature is that it does not darken upon application of additional maintenance coats. As with most quality finishes, maintenance coats should be applied every 3-5 years depending on your home’s exposure. However, with some finishes, with each application the home gets a little darker. This is not the case with our product.
Additionally, our premium finish is the closest to a “clear” finish available while still offering superior UV protection. Instead of covering over and hiding the wood grain, our products enhance the natural color and beauty of the wood, giving a lustrous, durable and unique finish to your home.
Our penetrating oil finish penetrates deeply into the wood pores adding beautiful color while still allowing the natural wood grain to show through. Unlike a film- forming finish, a penetrating finish protects logs from the elements while still allowing moisture that may find its way in to checks to escape. Our penetrating finish contains UV inhibitors to protect your logs from sun as well as oil which repels moisture and protects from rain/snow.
As with our film forming finish, our penetrating finish be should be washed annually and generally should also be re-coated every 3-5 years as needed.
